More than Face Value: Indiana Members of the Portrait Society of America
April 1 through April 30
Hancock County Arts is delighted to welcome the public to the opening reception of paintings by Indiana members of the Portrait Society of America. Enjoy the mastery of styles in portraiture expressed by artists who interpret their subjects based on viewpoint and experience.
To quote the National Gallery, “Portraiture can tell us about how we see people. Portraits often show us what a person looks like, but they can also capture an idea of a person or what they stand for. Portraits can also tell us how a person wants to be seen, and capture a particular mood that the sitter is experiencing.”.
Please join us for a premier exhibit of award-winning artists as we welcome Indiana members of the Portrait Society of America. Enjoy the unique styles of these artists on display at Hancock County Arts gallery, 20A N. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. This month-long event will run from April 2 through April 30.
Artist’s reception will be April 8 from 6:30-8:30 with light refreshments available.
An afternoon of creating portraits of local “celebrities” will take place on April 9 from 11:00-1:00. Spectators are welcome. Don’t miss the opportunity to talk to artists about their process and learn more about the Portrait Society of America. Don’t miss your chance!
The show closes April 30.
The Portrait Society of America is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in February 1998 to further the traditions of fine art portraiture and figurative art.
